God and religion

Europeans may forget sometimes, that the US and almost ALL other nations outside Europe, have majority, ingrained, strong belief in an afterlife and a universal creator/s in one manifestation or another. To read many transhuman >H sites you'd think that the mere voicing of this future blue skies thinking proves once and for all that God is dead and nature has been defeated. "Transhumanism = God is dead and imperfect nature is conquered". Not a good message to sell to the world wide masses.

Let's not forget that in America, 70% of the population believe the Devil is real and walks among us and an equal percentage believe in Angels as real, tangible beings with whom we interact. And we have to make Transhumanism compatible with God in America.

If their God didn't mean for us to develop technologies to aid and advance humankind, would they exist and prosper? If the devout would like to ride reign over their ethical development, fine.

Example (http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=608):

Embryonic stem cell research is favored by 70 percent of all adults, including 70 percent of Catholics. However, it is supported by only 45 percent of born-again Christians, 38 percent of Evangelicals and 51 percent of the "very religious."
